No, I didn't get arrested.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I put tatted buttons on denim with a little lace and made cuffs for my daughters for Mother's Day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIc6XgLBMOM2mVdty3sOvw-Z_tIKNVmOx3unkGNN9EC1uOq969wS7bRB8AYKIQbhizzt1CRFV5B0Igu5FsR47fMswzBefbhizlcJ-5Gdz-seuwPiIx0-FmHmHDPIaxwpWfNmi0TYVL4jQ/s1600/both+cuffs+1+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Tatted buttons on 2 denim cuffs in purples and blues @ wandasknottythoughts" border="0" height="268" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIc6XgLBMOM2mVdty3sOvw-Z_tIKNVmOx3unkGNN9EC1uOq969wS7bRB8AYKIQbhizzt1CRFV5B0Igu5FsR47fMswzBefbhizlcJ-5Gdz-seuwPiIx0-FmHmHDPIaxwpWfNmi0TYVL4jQ/s400/both+cuffs+1+sz.jpg" title="Tatted buttons on 2 denim cuffs in purples and blues @ wandasknottythoughts" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My original idea for my daughters did not work out, so I scrapped it and looked for something else. While on Pinterest, where I spend way too much time, I came across decorated material cuffs. They sparked an idea that had a chance to get done in the time left before Mother's Day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started with a known favorite color - purple - and tatted the buttons. These could be done in the car going back and forth to work as the passenger. The easy part.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At home I found an old pair of jeans to cut up for the base. At first it was going to be one piece of denim for each cuff. It didn't take long to decide there needed to be a backing to cover up all my stitching and keep the back pretty. I collected odds and ends of lace, ribbons, and buttons to play with, laying them out on the denim with the buttons in different ways.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwJNbwHv2NlZ-w4EL5NV4jLS-pkZScPbnmFu1k9WO_x03n9rcIg0sZ2xfQQS_6WIb373AfyI02m2olugmvQg_ca_CKZnyBA1GV7AdDGDl1jdWdkRn1Bes7ZsZr35suCG3ShF5His_25Ek/s1600/purple+cuff+1+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Tatted buttons on a denim cuff in purples @ wandasknottythoughts" border="0" height="183" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwJNbwHv2NlZ-w4EL5NV4jLS-pkZScPbnmFu1k9WO_x03n9rcIg0sZ2xfQQS_6WIb373AfyI02m2olugmvQg_ca_CKZnyBA1GV7AdDGDl1jdWdkRn1Bes7ZsZr35suCG3ShF5His_25Ek/s400/purple+cuff+1+sz.jpg" title="Tatted buttons on a denim cuff in purples @ wandasknottythoughts" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had recently purchased some leftover pieces of lace material from a local second hand shop which made a nice base for the other decorations. It didn't take long to notice the buttons could be flowers. And what are flowers without leaves? A few leaves of green material - didn't quite look right. They were very plain and boring. A few simple stitches with embroidery floss helped them look much more like leaves. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It took longer than expected to put the first one together. Mostly because I couldn't make up my mind how to place things or what, exactly, I wanted. But, at last, the first one was done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1P4MWBsBhnbqHmj5xXqxmKGWF0QvSI1fEP1V3ulfAP2VPFzahQjK_FvWCjP6gUBGGre5BSEsyg9lockQkk8Gj1VSCF9jdjNQ9gs0qULxvDTEa093LvCd6TbiDH3tzmCM3YU5Cxh4xzRI/s1600/blue+cuff+1+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Tatted buttons on a denim cuff in blues @ wandasknottythoughts" border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1P4MWBsBhnbqHmj5xXqxmKGWF0QvSI1fEP1V3ulfAP2VPFzahQjK_FvWCjP6gUBGGre5BSEsyg9lockQkk8Gj1VSCF9jdjNQ9gs0qULxvDTEa093LvCd6TbiDH3tzmCM3YU5Cxh4xzRI/s400/blue+cuff+1+sz.jpg" title="Tatted buttons on a denim cuff in blues @ wandasknottythoughts" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The second one didn't take as long. Other than changing the thread colors to blues on the buttons it was pretty much the same. Except - the green material used for the leaves didn't look as good with the blues. I had to find a different shade of green material and thread for them. I also added silver beads as I stitched everything down. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My sewing machine is not accessible at the moment so I stitched the ends down by hand. Which would have looked much better in something other than white, especially I as I can't sew straight. I purposely left the sides frayed-looking but it won't fray far. The two layers of denim are glued together. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0i0CG4hyQaBYhTKtOsU1iikq9Tm539EVa5NgqhKPoqddX9uBYRkfBT5kv5iqP5duOEPlzJfpR78TeFPxM6xZH6PBdAd2xfTwhCQN8JOKfvJgiTm6qh3IbFaYomvdNPoLVql6WP4g271o/s1600/worn+cuff+2+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Tatted buttons on denim cuff in purples, worn @ wandasknottythoughts" border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0i0CG4hyQaBYhTKtOsU1iikq9Tm539EVa5NgqhKPoqddX9uBYRkfBT5kv5iqP5duOEPlzJfpR78TeFPxM6xZH6PBdAd2xfTwhCQN8JOKfvJgiTm6qh3IbFaYomvdNPoLVql6WP4g271o/s400/worn+cuff+2+sz.jpg" title="Tatted buttons on denim cuff in purples, worn @ wandasknottythoughts" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The cuffs are finished off with a button on each end and an elastic hair band in the same color as the flower buttons. They are easy to put on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I gave the cuffs to my daughters the week after Mother's Day. One was completed on time but not the other. Gotta be fair, right? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm thinking about making one for myself. Will I continue with flowers or try something else?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I would hate to be cuffed to only one idea.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Okay, I'm done now.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

No tatting today. Thought I'd share the improvements to my kitchen.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We put lights under the top cabinets. It's great!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is what the kitchen looked like as we started emptying all the cabinets before the remodel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The main reason we did the remodel was the cracks in the kitchen floor. We had put duck tape over all the breaks for years. So great to have a new floor!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We are still in the process of putting things back in the cabinets. The kitchen is now bigger and I have a lot more cabinet space. Now comes the decision making of where the best places are to put everything. My hope is that the best place for some things is a second hand store. I'm sure I don't need everything I took out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really love my new kitchen!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I seem to have a lot of these crosses now, all just a little different from each other. I keep trying different stitch counts, looking for just the right pattern.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This cross is in Lizbeth Twirlz #404 Mermaid Lagoon. I'm not all that excited about how it looks in this thread. I also had an awful time taking a good picture of it. This is the best of the lot. Can you tell that is a piece of white printer paper behind it?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I think I finally have the pattern done to my satisfaction. I still need to tat one with this stitch count to go on the pattern page. I started one, then I lost it under my seat in the car. Up until then I thought I'd have it done today, but that was the end of working on it while we were driving. I lost a bit of tatting time so it won't be finished as soon as I'd hoped.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Due to a couple of rainy days my kitchen didn't get finished until Tuesday, but the construction is done! *happy dance* What this means is I now have to put things away. I have lots of cabinet and drawer space and I have no idea where I want a lot of things. We just started putting items in cabinets where we (I) think is a good idea, at least at the moment. If they don't work there I guess we'll rearrange. Pictures will be coming as soon as I get a chance to download them to the computer.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Through all of this mess and muddle I've been tatting small things like this cross. Now I need to move on to other things. Not sure if I can call them bigger and better, but different anyway.</div>

In an earlier post I mentioned we are remodeling our<a href="http://www.wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2016/03/an-early-spring.html" target="_blank"> kitchen</a>. As you can imagine, it is a dusty process. There is dust everywhere! It gets into everything!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A couple of days ago I was looking for something in a drawer in the living room and found something unexpected. I wasn't even sure what it was at first glance because I couldn't think of anything I had that looked like it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a glasses case. There was a hanky with a tatted edging laying across it in the drawer. The dust infiltrated the drawer and left a lovely pattern in dust on the case. It's amazing how disappointed I am that I messed up the pattern when I picked up the case.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisDHOuIfR3fMI4IrYAfKHRQ_UhxLls2n77MkW7LtCRS9oojptpRhl3bb58sMuohok4NRb9k4nU7LEbN0riwU_c6vHwyZvBxJhCgEFvs0OT2tsOUxI1Yf5j3_1LilLmIcY4wX9RI8MVaxY/s1600/lacey+glass+case+%25282%2529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Dusty tatted lace - dust left an impression on a glass case. <div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The good news is that the kitchen is almost done. We can actually start cleaning up some of the dust, as most of that work is about over. The contractor is putting the finishing touches on. I may have my kitchen done by the weekend! The background in the picture is my new kitchen counter. Isn't it pretty?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been working on the pattern for the Medallion Cross bookmark. I want to review it a bit before I post it but I'm hoping to have it ready in a couple of days.</div>

This is how I made it originally. Well, not quite, but almost. After looking at this picture I thought there must be a way to make the medallion center look a little better. For the last several weeks I've thought about it and tried a couple of different things.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAHEXxQtREWKc-4-uK0F-I2YYh87neJygmQEZEh5X-zs3e9_OjL2DFHLawhg8PFltW6HaYMlNgwjNsb1kTyqBJSzr4zGipSblSuKZDgtwMM44AiYwzyXoUeFaE6G4-UNPqUggSpjsNpzo/s1600/Medallion+cross+v1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Tatted Medallion Cross Bookmark version 2 on wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAHEXxQtREWKc-4-uK0F-I2YYh87neJygmQEZEh5X-zs3e9_OjL2DFHLawhg8PFltW6HaYMlNgwjNsb1kTyqBJSzr4zGipSblSuKZDgtwMM44AiYwzyXoUeFaE6G4-UNPqUggSpjsNpzo/s400/Medallion+cross+v1.jpg" title="Tatted Medallion Cross Bookmark version 2 on wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" width="270" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This version has several changes. In this one the chains are joined at the arms to make it a bit less likely to twist. The long, bottom arm is also made with one ring at the top of it instead of two. The picot count has been reduced making it less frilly. It came out pretty well, but is it the way to leave it? Maybe the long arm should be a bit thinner?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Version three is the same as v2 except for the long arm. It was made a bit skinnier by making the ring and joins between the sides a little different. Not bad, but good enough? Is this the way to leave it and write the pattern?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The chains are joined at the arms where they weren't before and now both of these versions cup slightly. In a book they would probably soon loose the cup and wouldn't be noticed, but it's not pleasing. Looking at the picture of the original it's obvious that the way the chains were modified changes the look of the medallion more than planned. Maybe the chain stitch count needs to be altered back to how it was.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
A short edging in Lizbeth #184 Rainbow Splash size 20</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have an aunt that is currently in assisted living while undergoing rehab after surgery. Outside of every room in the facility is a shadow box with glass shelves. The shadow boxes for those people that are there for long term care usually have quite a few things in them, from pictures to miniatures to postcards and such. My aunt is not expected to be there for a long term but it does look sad to have the shadow box empty. My mother has been finding cat miniatures at garage sales to put in my aunt's box to give it a happier appearance.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I kept thinking her box needed a little tatting. While I was visiting the week before Easter I showed her what colors I had with me and offered to make an edging for her box. She chose Rainbow Splash.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I envisioned doing something quick and easy that would hang over the edge of a shelf. That is what developed but not quite as I saw it in my mind's eye. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then there was the problem of attaching it to the shelf. At first I thought I would use sewing thread to go around and around the shelf, attaching to the edging as I went. I thought it wouldn't be too noticeable. But that didn't work at all. My husband suggested gluing it to the glass. As I happened to have a glue stick with me I gave it a try. It worked great. As it's just a regular glue stick the edging should come off easily when she goes home. The glass should clean off easily as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My aunt is very happy with the edging. She makes sure she mentions it to whom-ever is assisting her as they come and go to her room.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wanted to get the edging done by Easter - which I did - so pretty much went with the original idea. There are a few things I want to change the next time which should make it hang nicer without twisting. I think the edging came out well for a 'quickie'.</div>

( I should have moved over with the others so the window wasn't directly behind us)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Had lunch with two ladies that are my students. We get together once a month to tat and this month it was in public with tatting and chocolate. I brought Hershey's kisses in several varieties, something for everyone.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Becky and Sherry</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I put the tatted buttons I've been working on in a teacup. The other teacup has the chocolate. I also had a candy bowl with several shuttles wound with a yard of size 10 red thread and card stock wrapped with 2 yards of size 10 white thread. These were to be given away if anyone was interested in trying and wanted them. I demonstrated for one interested person but she didn't take a shuttle. We had several people stop and ask questions about what we were doing and were very impressed. No-one turned down the buttons when offered one. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ1N7W3i0TOTZGOP8mJ0nwumIShFGxk0Ad7xmdHyA-k5HeX2-mzVEUEdb0F5-OLYuKD8Tkouk_LolHCn-P1op9s-_HwAtjn8Tyf_sdQBuI6_syngUv33ieYmzKxqNUwE617I_cYFmTF6I/s1600/20160401student+teacher+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ1N7W3i0TOTZGOP8mJ0nwumIShFGxk0Ad7xmdHyA-k5HeX2-mzVEUEdb0F5-OLYuKD8Tkouk_LolHCn-P1op9s-_HwAtjn8Tyf_sdQBuI6_syngUv33ieYmzKxqNUwE617I_cYFmTF6I/s400/20160401student+teacher+sz.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sherry was having a little trouble and Becky helped her out. Nothing ensures you know what your doing as much as having to demonstrate and help someone else. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think I gave out about 10 buttons while we were out today. At work I gave out the other 15 I had, along with a Hershey kiss. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I guess I need to make more buttons :-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope all of you enjoyed International Tatting Day where-ever you were. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had a chance to decorate Easter eggs this week. Nothing elaborate, but fun.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsOcw6Zbb8Wa-iS-GVhEM6NtsRqLdW3SRShYs4lNfaNPgkt3HaijRtLXn4pt5S9jZGMKuW8A7m6tFHWQ00aJfR_V8GZAb_fzQ9AFFQL2y1_MfRgq18rpjCoubJmXVf2LLy8HGaYMCwF0M/s1600/3+Easter+eggs+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Decorated Easter eggs wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" border="0" height="255" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsOcw6Zbb8Wa-iS-GVhEM6NtsRqLdW3SRShYs4lNfaNPgkt3HaijRtLXn4pt5S9jZGMKuW8A7m6tFHWQ00aJfR_V8GZAb_fzQ9AFFQL2y1_MfRgq18rpjCoubJmXVf2LLy8HGaYMCwF0M/s400/3+Easter+eggs+sz.jpg" title="Decorated Easter eggs wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We didn't cook any eggs to color this year. They have eggs at the store that look almost real, and all you have to do is decorate. My daughter bought two dozen white ones for the kids to decorate. I thought I was picking up the same thing except colored, ready for stickers or coloring. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They were chalkboard eggs. They even came with a package of chalk.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYrunRtqV5K0OXTcFnWgpGBAirWNbIlxWb_OezKVgeY9dC1OZh9b6hlHepHX73F4m3rs0eD55Wwy9daz0kJWkzRNDdDMaI7fQETbtvNJ7C1owEo3HkLfDobo2BIPlhNXAWF43ZngApDf4/s1600/egg+decorating+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Decorating Easter eggs wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYrunRtqV5K0OXTcFnWgpGBAirWNbIlxWb_OezKVgeY9dC1OZh9b6hlHepHX73F4m3rs0eD55Wwy9daz0kJWkzRNDdDMaI7fQETbtvNJ7C1owEo3HkLfDobo2BIPlhNXAWF43ZngApDf4/s400/egg+decorating+sz.jpg" title="Decorating Easter eggs wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used colored pencils instead. Along with a bit of tatting, of course.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had a lot of fun with these though I only finished three eggs. I guess I have some to work on for next year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned how many of the <a href="http://www.wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2016/03/an-early-spring.html" target="_blank">ornamental pear trees</a> were blooming. There are a few of those still pretty though most have greened to leaves now. But the Flowering Crab Apple and Redbud trees are now in full bloom.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the last week or so there was a hard freeze but it doesn't look like it did a lot of damage. Well, I don't have a garden or fruit trees so I could be wrong, but there are a lot of trees and flowers still blooming.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdyqOCoIHpMoFiIxuwyawqBYKysgTKZIYUbnbBfCFnKspCpHx2Lxjxkm9Th6mN-ExBlofhwgXcQAegd0sSf0AfhJfWEMQ4gbZOZFVwSwkjqaIuUPOh6REDn8t5JF1VK1EV3VoxfFKuqXo/s1600/crap+apple+and+statue+cp+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Blooming crab apple tree and statue wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdyqOCoIHpMoFiIxuwyawqBYKysgTKZIYUbnbBfCFnKspCpHx2Lxjxkm9Th6mN-ExBlofhwgXcQAegd0sSf0AfhJfWEMQ4gbZOZFVwSwkjqaIuUPOh6REDn8t5JF1VK1EV3VoxfFKuqXo/s400/crap+apple+and+statue+cp+sz.jpg" title="Blooming crab apple tree and statue wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" width="391" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a Flowering Crab Apple tree in my daughter's yard and it is beautiful!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The sky has been other than blue over the last week. There have been several large wild fires in the state that created a lot of smokey skies and caused ash to fall miles from the fires. The fires are very hard to contain when the wind is blowing 40+ miles an hour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

A smokey sunset seen from where I work in Wichita. I missed being outside when all the ash was falling.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We finally got a little moisture Easter Sunday. In the form of a beautiful snow fall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was about an hour later. Check out that blue, blue sky!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was a perfect snow. The roads were clear, the snow only lasted for the day and it was perfect for making snow balls. It did mean that the grandchildren had their egg hunt in the house, but they didn't seem to mind too much.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This Friday, April 1st, is International Tatting Day. The two ladies I get together to tat with, my sister, and I are planning to be at the Montana Mike's Steak House in McPherson for lunch. We'll have our tatting and chocolate out and I know we'll be having a great time. If there is anyone in the neighborhood that would like to join us there you would be quite welcome! We plan on getting there about 11:30 a.m. and taking a long lunch.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What are your plans for ITD?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFhxKUbtdEUnyk2_mGLhm93OJos1yebfecXbWCSV3coKJ28xfOC3yZmXP67sHN7VQTLcz9oHB24w7xGqnqZ8gCdUa7bg-GrI7fpQEWB9PDXLqKV6R4nV5UAiHrB1-qAwkbQ66AqLDP1r4/s1600/buttons+20160322+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Buttons for International Tatting Day on wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFhxKUbtdEUnyk2_mGLhm93OJos1yebfecXbWCSV3coKJ28xfOC3yZmXP67sHN7VQTLcz9oHB24w7xGqnqZ8gCdUa7bg-GrI7fpQEWB9PDXLqKV6R4nV5UAiHrB1-qAwkbQ66AqLDP1r4/s400/buttons+20160322+sz.jpg" title="Buttons for International Tatting Day on wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com" width="223" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
With all the dust and disruptions at the house due to the <a href="http://www.wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2016/03/an-early-spring.html" target="_blank">remodel</a> I've not gotten much tatting done. I can still do a bit in the car so I've continued to decorate buttons for International Tatting Day.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did give away a few green ones last week to be worn for St. Patrick's Day. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And one to an aunt who thought it was pretty.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And one to a co-working who really liked it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The grandchildren like them, too. And their mothers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I guess if I don't give them all away on ITD I'll still be able to do something with them eventually.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>"Who gives from the mind is great</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Who gives from the heart is truly blessed."</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Marinela Reka</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Shortly after I posted this we went out for lunch. We met a nice lady in another booth that recognized that I was tatting and had a nice visit. Before she left I gave her a button and my card.</i><br />
<i>Do you think I'll have any left for ITD?</i></div>

It's only the middle of March and many of the trees are in bloom or finished blooming. Every where you look there are beautiful flowering trees and plants. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7z-kbyj7qOfcqdpIbpaaQ4qyx8qE0tTCaPkz1KtfXULid3USNrKcYeAOisUkLF1b5YSfp8sWNlr__TQLI7KywXQpeNtouRii0sRVCRWAt1UO-HFOOfhIb-h7I2qEo9QGU2W_tot_YmBA/s1600/trees+2+sz.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Ornamental pear tree in bloom wandasknottythoughts" border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7z-kbyj7qOfcqdpIbpaaQ4qyx8qE0tTCaPkz1KtfXULid3USNrKcYeAOisUkLF1b5YSfp8sWNlr__TQLI7KywXQpeNtouRii0sRVCRWAt1UO-HFOOfhIb-h7I2qEo9QGU2W_tot_YmBA/s400/trees+2+sz.jpg" title="Ornamental pear tree in bloom wandasknottythoughts" width="223" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This ornamental pear tree is just down the road from our bank, one of many in the area. You would almost think there was snow on a lot of trees by all the white every where.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
With the weather being warmer than normal it is tempting to stop and admire all the lovely blooms. So on the way to the bank I did.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now we worry that we'll get cold weather again and loose all the fruit and flowers that have bloomed. People with ornamental trees like this pear don't have to worry about loosing fruit. People with actual fruit-bearing trees do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The early spring has helped our contractor out a lot. He can leave the doors and windows open while he works on our kitchen remodel. I am looking forward to getting this completed. Our kitchen is a bit of a mess right now.</div>

We've been eating out a lot lately :-)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The only tatting I've accomplished lately is a few buttons. This is a good thing as I want to have as many as possible for International Tatting Day. My problem now is that I keep giving them away. <br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There are so many things going on lately I've not really gotten into any projects even though I have several in mind. Instead I've been working on little things to give away (I hope) on International Tatting Day April 1st.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0eW3oU6rUs2sdrmK2nW84gThY7F6TW5YQ255_osqhPe6v1qgDqSrJWFx9NTJW01NcA3aACelPTQyyMk6xzTBZO_HvGlmfx9YmyAa6ZzDWqaCbmdAEHga3t_F4PjETaP3j01EcFB6tK-g/s1600/Buttons+for+ITD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Button Tatting for International Tatting Day 2016 on wandasknottythought.blogspot.com" border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0eW3oU6rUs2sdrmK2nW84gThY7F6TW5YQ255_osqhPe6v1qgDqSrJWFx9NTJW01NcA3aACelPTQyyMk6xzTBZO_HvGlmfx9YmyAa6ZzDWqaCbmdAEHga3t_F4PjETaP3j01EcFB6tK-g/s400/Buttons+for+ITD.jpg" title="Button Tatting for International Tatting Day 2016 on wandasknottythought.blogspot.com" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Tatting around buttons is easy and quick and people really like them when they see them, making them ideal as small give-a-ways. I've done a few in green because, hey, St. Patrick's day is coming up - never hurts to have a little green on you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRYxnHe8CK3HnjPcKvEQp8LxvOeHm6eMX5zx8Raj9REenLnp1BTB1aF9AVhry1AJwCOYVG1J8tcF3ob4NT5l_3wbyxgDJpHxB7-2sfAZBOk83nsMAisyUTRB33xu-9vtmvUrDDnJceH1I/s1600/Button+back+for+ITD.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Back of the Button Tatting for International Tatting Day 2016 on wandasknottythought.blogspot.com" border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRYxnHe8CK3HnjPcKvEQp8LxvOeHm6eMX5zx8Raj9REenLnp1BTB1aF9AVhry1AJwCOYVG1J8tcF3ob4NT5l_3wbyxgDJpHxB7-2sfAZBOk83nsMAisyUTRB33xu-9vtmvUrDDnJceH1I/s400/Button+back+for+ITD.jpg" title="Back of the Button Tatting for International Tatting Day 2016 on wandasknottythought.blogspot.com" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Instead of sewing in the ends on these I've used them to sew on a small safety pin. I have a whole jar of safety pins of different sizes, thought this would be a good place to use the smaller ones.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think I'll move on to other colors now and maybe make a few into <a href="http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2015/04/simple-gifts.html?_sm_au_=iVV5778HHn8s1LPn" target="_blank">Easter eggs</a> like I have the last couple of years; a few on paperclips and a few on safety pins.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really need to keep a few of these handy all the time, not just for ITD. I've had several opportunities to give something like this away to an interested by-stander but didn't have any with me that were finished. Okay, I'd already given the finished ones away... So I need to keep more on hand.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Still haven't gotten my drawing program fixed. Now that I can't I really want to work on some patterns. I hope I keep up the enthusiasm for when I have a working program again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While I wait I might as well do another button.</div>

I made this <a href="http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2015/08/hanging-basket-edging.html?_sm_au_=iVVJr5ft4JDr6Sf5" target="_blank">edging</a> for a table runner back in August. I hadn't been sure I was going to be happy with it, but it turned out looking good.</div>

I was in a hurry when I took this picture and I didn't notice how crooked it looks. It didn't look like that when it was hanging up. This just shows that I'm better at tatting than I am at sewing :-) This runner was given as a gift for Christmas. </div>

I noticed a bookmark in my Bible that I made several years ago and thought I would make it again. I couldn't find anywhere that I had written down the pattern so thought I would. Jotted it down on paper and lost it. Re-wrote it. Then tried to diagram it and found my vector program has a problem just after I upgraded to Windows 10. Serif Draw X8 is supposed to be compatible with Windows 10 so maybe it got corrupted during the upgrade. I uninstalled SDX8 and re-installed and still get an error. I tried installing an update but still no luck. I have put my problem on their forum and hope to get an answer. If not it will be direct contact with Serif. I'm used to this program and like it, it's a real problem to not have it work.<br />
<br />
It has been quite a week. Besides the program issue we've had some trouble with the Internet so I had trouble posting. We've also had a lot of things happening at the house getting ready for a bit of remodeling.<br />
<br />
There has been some other distractions as well. You may have heard about the shooting at Excel Industries in Hesston, Kansas. Hesston is just down the road from us. It was quite a shock to have something like this hit so close to home. I don't personally know any of the people that were shot but people I know do. In such a small community, something like this effects everyone.<br />
It's wonderful how the entire county has joined together to get through this ordeal and help those who need it.<br />

Last Tuesday my two most recent tatting students came over for a tat and chat. We've been getting together about once a month for several months now. We have so much fun! I'm not sure just how much tatting actually gets done but we do talk about it and have a great time.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4v1tSKFRH0oj1ijmoCaBBaR-ROPBULgfiHLXPIso0XZHINkhV_hz6wx7DYueabvzMwhk87XzCSjgoOlBJ9aosRYdbeN0h7Sl5iUAmXOdKvfdhRqs5QJPo8wwuwpgAmxbgdMKtrxaMTf4/s1600/SAM_9608+sz.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4v1tSKFRH0oj1ijmoCaBBaR-ROPBULgfiHLXPIso0XZHINkhV_hz6wx7DYueabvzMwhk87XzCSjgoOlBJ9aosRYdbeN0h7Sl5iUAmXOdKvfdhRqs5QJPo8wwuwpgAmxbgdMKtrxaMTf4/s400/SAM_9608+sz.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sherry takes a cautious approach to tatting. She doesn't like taking out mistakes so doesn't work very fast but she's making progress. She's working on a heart that she would like to frame.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjL8JEh3Wc8fUP5dRgjB3OfQLrNXe4rXXqY8owYnE8IHwxz_tooGZD9oUl_hmaBPq59AQMeEaj2lHNUZIPOJ_46zVI9R8L-VzIew4GIXVT0NJjW49XeSPgx9gApUKZptlEIu8g2Pkfdn0/s1600/SAM_9607+sz.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjL8JEh3Wc8fUP5dRgjB3OfQLrNXe4rXXqY8owYnE8IHwxz_tooGZD9oUl_hmaBPq59AQMeEaj2lHNUZIPOJ_46zVI9R8L-VzIew4GIXVT0NJjW49XeSPgx9gApUKZptlEIu8g2Pkfdn0/s400/SAM_9607+sz.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Becky is a lot more bold and not afraid to make mistakes. Since last month she tatted four hearts, framed them and gave them away for Valentine's day. She didn't yet have a pattern that called for it but she wanted to learn how to make split rings. She was doing it quite well with them by the time she left.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgii86XtFDke97yIVFEaP853cai9sE5_jdJ-yD0oJD9axGdD7sxQ_-LodYp0G_WtL4rOIWJroyIvesMUWU69o6H7bSM_xxWlwI66jEx89GkFQtJGMnR5H7HjyTcwJ5lItOEunFwFGLa5tk/s1600/SAM_9606+cp.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; display: inline !important; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgii86XtFDke97yIVFEaP853cai9sE5_jdJ-yD0oJD9axGdD7sxQ_-LodYp0G_WtL4rOIWJroyIvesMUWU69o6H7bSM_xxWlwI66jEx89GkFQtJGMnR5H7HjyTcwJ5lItOEunFwFGLa5tk/s400/SAM_9606+cp.JPG" width="321" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Becky brought along a few flee market/antique store finds. The small doily was found some time ago and looks to be made in about size 30. Another time she and her husband did some bargaining for the silver shuttle. The larger one we have determined is made from <a href="http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-french-ivory.htm" target="_blank">French ivory</a> and is in very nice shape. It is about the size of a Tatsy shuttle (the silver about the size of regular Clover) and still has tatting attached, the hen and chicks probably made in size 30.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We've set a date for our March get-together and made plans for our April meet to be on April 1 for International Tatting Day. They think they can handle the requirements: tat something fun, do it in public, and eat chocolate!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have you made plans for International Tatting Day yet?</div>

One of my aunts ended up in the hospital Saturday, so instead of taking her real flowers I took her some fake ones Sunday (no worries about spilling the water or flowers drooping before she could enjoy them). It was a hurry-up job. The 'vase' is a spice jar with a piece of burlap ribbon and a piece of smaller, white ribbon wrapped around it and the tatted heart - which I tatted up on the way from our house to the hospital. I took the with me and attached the heart to the ribbon while we were in the parking garage. This was the best of the pictures I took of it before we left.</div>

My aunt liked it.</div>

This has been my take-along tatting project this last week. I needed something without beads or too complicated (like the TIAS) and one that I wouldn't worry about messing up (like the Round Robin doily I'm working on). I made the rings of the arms a bit bigger than I made the <a href="http://www.wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2016/01/joys-heart-cross-bookmark.html" target="_blank">bookmark</a> I gave my brother-in-law; I think this looks better. My plan was to frame it and give it to my mother for Valentine's day but I haven't gotten that done yet. I'll just give it to her when I get all the finishing touches done.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now on to other things: the Round Robin doily I still have; a wedding gift for next month; the pincushions I want to make... It feels good to be getting over the funk I've been in.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A few months ago our church congregation decided to purchase new hymnals. The 'Lutheran Service Book' has been out since 2006 but we are slow to accept change. We like the old hymnal, 'Lutheran Worship', and going to the expense of buying different ones just because there is a new one out there is a large investment for a small congregation. But our organist of many, many years retired last year and we are having trouble finding another one. Even guest organists are hard to come by and they are mostly used to playing out of the LSB. So we voted to to purchase the new hymnals.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was brought up that the new books do not have any bookmarks in them. You can purchase bookmarks that have two or three markers but no-one wanted to pay the extra. I made a <a href="http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2015/11/many-tailed-tatted-paperclip-bookmark.html" target="_blank">bookmark</a> for my aunt that had a few tails and my mother brings a handful of bookmarks to church every Sunday. As other members had also brought up the lack of markers I thought I'd see what I could come up with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've seen this type of bookmark on the Internet - regular ribbon, a button and an elastic hair band, then I added four ribbon page markers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made eight of them while watching the super bowl Sunday night. I could have made more but I ran out of ribbon.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I will take these to church Sunday and let a few people try them out. If they are liked I'll make a few more. I don't know that I'll make them for all the hymnals but, if they go over well, I'll make enough for everyone that comes regularly and maybe a few more. We'll see what people think of them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the tatting front I've done a little: I've made it to day 9 of Jane's TIAS. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I know, she's posted the last day and people are sending in their finished pieces, but at least I'm back at it I need to remember not to use such dark thread on something like this - if I make a mistake it's hard to see to undo it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did find a wonderful pattern I wanted to make for Valentine's Day but it is not going to get done in time. In fact, I haven't started it yet. And I have the Round Robin that I need to finish before I start something else.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think I need one of the hymnal bookmarks to keep track of all the things I need to do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But I'd have to add a few more tails.</div>

Western Kansas and a lot of Nebraska was hit with a blizzard February 2, 2016. A friend of mine took this picture of a redbird in her yard. I don't know how much snow they had where this was taken but looks like quite a bit. Not enough to keep this little bird away. Love this picture!<br />
<br />
*I was told they had about 10 inches (25.4 cm)</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I was visiting an aunt this week and noticed this kitty on her side table among other pictures and nick-knacks. I had completely forgotten about making this until I saw it again. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I saw it I was trying to remember where I had found the pattern and when I had done it. I had to do some thinking about how old it might be before I could think of the book. Amazingly I guessed right the first time and pulled out the right book the first try. The pattern is found in 'The Complete Book of Tatting' by Rebecca Jones. I checked the published date to give me a clue of when I might have tatted it. My copy of the book has "reprinted 1992 & 1994". I'm pretty sure I tatted this about 1995 and gifted it for birthday or Christmas the same year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm guessing the thread is DMC pearl cotton size 8 because, at the time, there weren't many other threads in pretty colors that I could find. I didn't take a lot of time to look at it closely when I was at the aunts' house or I could be more sure. It is mounted on light blue material in a wooden frame without glass. It's almost hard to believe I made it 20 years ago!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a favorite aunt that I spent many hours with growing up and once I knew how to tat she was the lucky recipient of quite a bit of tatting. In those days I didn't take pictures or write down what I made or where it went. This is one of the reasons I started blogging, to keep track of all that!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It gives me a little warm and fuzzy feeling to see that she has kept it all these years and still has it out to enjoy.</div>

I haven't gotten much tatting done lately. It also seems that what has gotten done has had mistakes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Take Jane's TIAS 2016. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was doing great until Day 6. It wasn't that it was that difficult but I caught a thread where it shouldn't aught to be and didn't notice it until I was farther along.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3LDe592HWb7kOUbTvGhuDMtKemhqhnKB0RfRQLg70Yg5rED8nkdye5TMqIlzEOY1AdTq0TrfST-lE2jh2dAtI1PGhTPpRTulkEJbhMfaWxJw08uBMigO2MMCsh79xwlPu1ahOdg3c5ak/s1600/TIAS+mistake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="2016 TIAS with a mistake wandasknottythoughts" border="0" height="322" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3LDe592HWb7kOUbTvGhuDMtKemhqhnKB0RfRQLg70Yg5rED8nkdye5TMqIlzEOY1AdTq0TrfST-lE2jh2dAtI1PGhTPpRTulkEJbhMfaWxJw08uBMigO2MMCsh79xwlPu1ahOdg3c5ak/s400/TIAS+mistake.jpg" title="2016 TIAS with a mistake wandasknottythoughts" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Jane Eborall's TIAS 2016 Day 6</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And this is where I still am. The way things have been going lately with my tatting I'm afraid to take it out due to the chance of making it worse. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But I am looking forward to finishing it. Jane already has Day 8 out; I have a bit of catching up to do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The doily I currently have in the round robin I'm a part of on Craftree is sitting by my chair waiting on me to finish it. I have it figured out - in my thread - but haven't yet attempted it in the doily colors yet. I really don't want to mess it up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope I get out of my funk soon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On a bright note, I found my <a href="http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2015/11/craft-show.html" target="_blank">snowman</a> that came off in the<a href="http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2015/12/of-airplanes-ornaments-and-snowmen.html" target="_blank"> wash</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He looked pretty pathetic.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But amazingly his scarf, hat and flower are still attached. I used craft glue to put them on and I really thought I'd find the tatting but not everything still together. A little blocking and he'll be as good as new.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm hoping a little patience and a little more care will soon get me back to as good as new, or least back to normal!</div>

This is another edging I made last fall. Yes, it is similar to <a href="http://wandasknottythoughts.blogspot.com/2015/12/kamryn-edging.html?_sm_au_=iVV4rvrPr42ftN67" target="_blank">Kamryn</a> because I had an idea in mind that I was working toward and Marlis was one of the first versions of that idea. I'm not all that happy with it, though once I added the second row where it is attached the material I liked it a lot better. The colors look pretty good with the runner material, though.<br />
<br />
After I had made Marlis and Kamryn - and a few other edgings - I saw a picture of an edging that is along the lines I originally was headed. Fox over at tat-ology made <a href="http://tat-ology.blogspot.com/2011/01/veering-to-vintage.html?_sm_au_=iVV4rvrPr42ftN67" target="_blank">'Gardenia' </a>by Iris Niebach, which if I'd seen it first I might have made it instead (I am sure I read about it on Fox's blog when she posted about it, but I've slept a couple of times since then). Oh, well, this way meant I had to take a chance at figuring out just what it was I did wanted and if I could get there from where I was.<br />
<br />
I had a lot of fun in the trying.<br />

This was made in memory of my sister-in-law who loved anything hearts who lost her battle with cancer this last week. We were the same age and though we didn't see each other often we always enjoyed each other's company. She will be greatly missed.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I had almost a week to make a bookmark for my brother-in-law but I had a hard time getting started - maybe denial? I finished the last arm and hid the ends a few minutes after the funeral. The picture was taken in the foyer on a table there. I should have found a better background but there were other things to do.</div>

Funerals are hard to attend but can help so much with dealing with loss. Besides all of the memories shared you also reconnect with extended family that unfortunately doesn't get together often enough. I also find myself reviewing my own life and wonder if I'm doing things I might regret or what things I might regret if I don't do them.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As family and friends mingled, shared memories and tears, many of us kept saying "we have to stop meeting just at funerals." Someone decided to do something about that - plans have been started to have a family reunion later this year. I've added it to our calendar and we've made plans to go. We not waiting until the next funeral.</div>

Several years ago I gave the white airplane on the right to a friend of mine for Christmas. He had it hung on his office wall at work and I noticed a few months ago that it was looking a bit wilted and yellow. It had been stiffened a bit but not enough it seems. The smaller grey plane I meant to give him last year and didn't (he got a tatted ornament just not the plane). This year I wanted to make sure he got both his airplanes but in a way that would look good and last a bit better.</div>

I wore it Christmas day and forgot to take it off my shirt before I washed it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm not sure where it ended up. I used regular white craft glue to put it all together as it was never meant to go through the washer. I'll probably find bits and pieces of him in the clothes as we put them on, tucked up inside a sleeve of some shirt or other. It's too bad but not a tragedy to loose him as I have others but, man! I wish I hadn't done that.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2015 is about to make it's exit. It's been a thrilling year with the new experience of a cruise and visiting Alaska for the first time; a sad year where we have lost three family members and several close friends over the course of the year; and an exciting year as we've finally done some home improvements that had been put off for far too long. It could be said it's been a normal year with ups and downs, good times and bad. As we enter 2016 I make no resolutions that I know I won't keep but move forward with a positive outlook and hopes for a wonderful new year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Color sample made with Lizbeth thread size 10 in #606 Charcoal & #602 Natural</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While making edgings for the table runner that were made this fall I discovered - rediscovered? - that my sense of what colors go together needs help. Setting balls of thread on material gives an idea if they look good together but not necessarily if they work together for a pretty edging.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For a Christmas gift this year I'm planning on another table runner. Instead of making the edging and then finding out the colors just don't quite work like expected I thought I should do a little more research and make a sample with the planned colors and then make the decision.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Why did it come out as a snowflake? It was a good idea at the time??</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These colors didn't quite work as expected with the material - good thing it was only a sample! - so more research was needed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These were done only in one color so they could be put side-by-side with other colors to see how they would look. Probably a much more practical way to research the problem and find the colors that work the best, don't you think?</div>
